A lipid profile, or also called lipid panel, is a blood test where they measure your levels of blood lipids. Lipids are important for your body, but having too high levels of lipids (called hyperlipidemia) is a risk factor for heart disease and stroke. So it’s important to monitor your lipid levels regularly with your healthcare provider. Lipids that are being measured in a lipid profile includes cholesterol (together with Low Density Lipoproteins (LDL) and High Density Lipoproteins (HDL) levels) as well as triglycerides.
