Thyroxine (T4)

Thyroxine (T4) is a hormone that is produced by the thyroid gland. It is often referred to as T4, as it contains 4 iodide atoms. It is one of two thyroid hormones. They are important for the metabolism, growth and development, as well as body temperature. The other thyroid hormone is called Triiodothyronine (T3).
